The vibrant roots of Monji Enterprises run deep, as this second-generation landscaping business continues to provide the unique "total environmental experience" to residential and commercial clients throughout the United States. Started in 1953 by the late Fred Monji, the company initially began as a gardening business. In 1956, Monji upgraded the business to landscaping, and from there, it grew. Today, son Dan Monji, is president of the landscaping firm that ranks in the top 100 in the country.
"I had the best teacher in the business — my father. He was an award-winning designer," Dan Monji said fondly. Dan is the only landscape designer to ever be recognized by the Arts Council of Kern. His father, Fred Monji, was a recipient of numerous awards from the California Landscape Contractors Association, and is well remembered for a simple slogan...

The Monji difference starts with a trip to our private studio. Closed to the public, Monji's Garden Gallery is where customers choose not just the kind of plant, but the plant itself, that will be used on your landscape project. It's hard knowing what kind of plants will look good in your backyard, it's harder knowing what plants look like. The Garden Gallery solves this problem.
While other landscapers use distributors, Monji allows you to work directly from nature. Here you'll find an incredible selection of plants plus examples of Monji's waterfalls and stone sculptures. And When it comes time to plant your yard, you'll have the chance to approve every step along the way. Monji lays out the plants before committing them to soil.
Monji has a full staff dedicated to servicing customers. Our office staff is always happy to speak with you to answer questions or resolve any problems you may have and our service team is fast and dependable. When you contract with Monji you're getting the best.

 Monji Enterprises is well recognized through its major contributions as an exhibitor at Kern County's semi-annual home shows. From a fire breathing, 19 foot-tall faux stone Aztec idol to an erupting volcano, Monji is well-known for creations that serve as centerpiece to the shows.
Dan Monji is the only landscape designer to ever be recognized by the Arts Council of Kern.

With consistent coverage of his business in The Bakersfield Californian, his very popular weekly national radio program, "The Garden Party" that broadcasts in California, Colorado, and Nevada on eleven different stations, and features in local home and gardening publications,  it's no wonder Monji's name is well known amongst local residents.
